Many pregnant women reach for their sex toys during their pregnancy, whether their sex drive is off the charts or they just want to indulge in a good orgasm. However, as we all know, sometimes you are too tired for sex and your dildo is the closest thing to sex.
During pregnancy, I understand if you ask, “Can I use the dildo?”. It is terrifying to contemplate putting anything in your vagina while your womb is full. During pregnancy, you aren’t restricted to putting your sex toys away, you can still use your dildo.
Pregnancy can be a great experience, especially when you use sex toys. Several hormone surges lead to engorgement and heightened sensitivities in your genitals, ensuring that you are more likely to enjoy dildos than before.
You can also use your dildo without fear of harm. Your doctor won’t tell you that sex is prohibited before your pregnancy is healthy and progressing normally, so you can do anything you want in the bedroom. If rough sexual interplay is okay, then using a dildo while pregnant is also acceptable. If you’re pregnant and using your dildo, stay clean. That’s the most important thing to keep in mind. Use warm water and a gentle soap to clean the surface of your sex toy after each use.
Dildos are harder and more rigid than penises, so you can rely on your judgement there. To avoid pain or discomfort, try pushing a little more gently than you would normally. It is best to begin slowly and work your way up to pleasure to ensure your safety while still having fun.
Whenever you are worried, just remember that your baby is safe. The uterus is so well cushioned that you need not worry about your dildo disturbing your baby.
A dildo isn’t going to harm your baby because the amniotic fluid and the muscles of the uterus protect it, experts say. So long as you’re okay to have sex, your dildo should work for you.
If you have any concerns that intercourse might not be safe, such as inexplicable vaginal bleeding or amniotic fluid leaks, you should talk to your doctor.
If you follow a few simple pregnancy safety rules, the experience will be safe for you and your baby.
Dildos during pregnancy
During pregnancy, sexual toys like Dildo are safe. It’s just a mechanical replica of the real thing. However, make sure that anything going into your vagina is clean before using it.
Dildos made of silicone that does not vibrate can be cleaned by boiling for five to ten minutes or by placing them in the dishwasher, while those that vibrate should be washed for about 20 seconds in antibacterial soap and water (other materials should be cleaned differently, such as hard plastic, rubber, nylon, or leather).
There’s no need to worry about piercing the placenta or hurting the baby, even if you try not to penetrate the vagina too deep with sex toys (avoid sex toys with sharp edges). Your uterus – and your baby – are safely sealed from the outside by the mucous plug in your cervix.
Masturbating during pregnancy
As long as you are not experiencing a high-risk pregnancy or heightened concerns about premature labour, you should not have any issues masturbating during pregnancy. A great way to release any stress that’s been building up in your muscles.
Here are a few things to keep in mind when using a dildo during pregnancy:
– It’s important to keep your dildo or any other sex toys as clean as possible to prevent infection. Dildos must be washed according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
– When bleeding or discomfort occurs, stop using it.
– You may need to add lube or try different positions due to hormonal and physical changes during pregnancy.
– In case your water breaks or your OB-GYN recommends that you skip any sexual activity, stop using it.
– If you’re not sure about which activities are safe or what your OB approves, don’t be afraid to ask.
Generally, dildos are safe, but if the material (such as metal or plastic) is rigid, you’ll want to avoid penetrating too deeply, for fear of injury.
The following situations make a dildo (or having intercourse) unsafe:
– In the case of placenta previa, the placenta may be traumatized and heavy bleeding may occur, which could compromise the pregnancy.
– For women at risk of premature labour, an orgasmic experience may result in contractions.
– A cervical insufficiency can increase the likelihood of a ruptured membrane.
– Inserting a sex toy or engaging in intercourse while your water has broken is risky for your infant.
What I learned
It’s not necessary to completely give up on sexuality just because you’re pregnant! I don’t think it’s a problem to let your libido lead you unless your OB has placed restrictions on you.
During pregnancy, your sex drive may fluctuate, with certain sex acts becoming more or less appealing. In low-risk pregnancies, you can generally engage in most sexual activities safely. Dildos can be used for this purpose.
Keep your toys clean, be aware of your health, and protect yourself as much as possible.
